Established in 1995,
H.O.P.E. of Valparaiso Kennel Club is a group of approximately
15 members and others who have trained their dogs (and other pets)
to do Animal Assisted Therapy. Our therapy animals are certified
by an evaluator from the
Delta Society after
undergoing a stringent temperament test and a
CGC test.
Currently, we make
visitations to St. Anthony's St. Mary's and Broadway Methodist
Hospitals, SELF School in Valparaiso and Whispering Pines in
Valparaiso.
H.O.P.E. meets
the 3rd Tuesday evening of each month at Whispering Pines
Retirement Center in Valparaiso, where the animals become
acquainted with wheelchairs, walkers and other hospital
equipment.
The next
meeting is Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 7:30pm.
Meetings are held at Whispering Pines, 3301 Calumet Ave.,
Valparaiso
